Job Description
The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations for construction projects and corporate functions. This role ensures accuracy in financial records, assists in preparing monthly reports, and maintains compliance with company accounting standards, project billing requirements, and applicable regulations. The Staff Accountant works closely with project managers, job cost accountants, and the finance team to maintain integrity in project and corporate financial data, and will report directly to the Controller.
• Process and record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions related to project and corporate expenses.
• Assist in maintaining job cost accounting by coding and reconciling project expenditures to budgets.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries as part of the monthly close process.
• Support project billing and ensure timely submission of invoices to clients.
• Review subcontractor pay applications for accuracy and contract compliance.
• Reconcile bank accounts, vendor statements, and general ledger accounts monthly.
• Assist with WIP (Work in Progress) reporting and ensure accuracy of project financial data.
• Maintain and update financial schedules, including fixed assets, prepaids, and retainage accounts.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–8 years of accounting experience; construction or engineering industry.
• Understanding of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and project-based financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP software such as CMiC, Viewpoint, Sage, or similar systems.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to numerical accuracy.
Knowledge of GAAP and construction contract billing concepts (progress billings, retainage, change orders).

• Data Center and mission critical accounting experience
