Job Description

Insight Global is seeking and Application Migration Engineer. The Application Migration Engineer is responsible for executing and validating on‑premise application migrations, with a strong focus on Active Directory domain migrations and SQL‑based applications. This role ensures business‑critical applications are migrated securely and reliably between domains or environments, while minimizing risk, downtime, and operational impact. Key Responsibilities include:
Migration Planning & Analysis
-Assess applications for migration readiness, including dependency mapping across Active Directory, SQL Server, operating systems, and network components.
-Identify domain‑bound configurations such as service accounts, hard‑coded domain references, authentication methods, and certificates.
-Define migration approaches (clone‑based, rebuild, or in‑place where applicable) aligned to approved standards and migration runbooks

Active Directory Domain Migrations
-Execute application remediation activities during AD domain migrations
-Update and validate service accounts, group memberships, SPNs, scheduled tasks, and application identity integrations
Ensure applications authenticate correctly in the target domain and comply with security standards.
-Coordinate closely with identity and systems engineering teams during migration and cutover windows

Application & SQL Migration Execution
-Perform application installations, configuration, and migrations
-Migrate and validate Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting applications
-Ensure data integrity, connectivity, and performance post‑migration
-Troubleshoot and resolve issues across application, database, and identity layers

Testing, Validation & Handover
-Execute structured pre‑ and post‑migration validation activities
-Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and stakeholder sign‑off
-Document migration outcomes, issues, and remediation actions

Required Skills & Experience

-5+ years of hands‑on experience working with Active Directory in enterprise environments
-Strong expertise in Active Directory domain migrations and domain consolidation projects from on-prem to on-prem environments
-Experience with Quest Migration tools for AD and related identity migrations
-Extensive experience with Microsoft O365 / M365 in hybrid or enterprise environments
-Proven hands‑on experience with enterprise on‑premise to on-premise application migrations for SERVERS
-Solid working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including application‑level administration, migration, and access control
-Experience supporting Windows Server–based application hosting
-Strong understanding of on‑prem Active Directory, DNS, and identity‑dependent application architectures
-Demonstrated experience migrating business‑critical, identity‑dependent applications
-Ability to execute migrations using structured runbooks and formal change processes
-Experience operating within formal change, release, and incident management frameworks

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Certificate server experience
-Experience supporting large‑scale or multi‑wave migration programs
-PowerShell scripting experience for migration preparation, automation, or validation
-ITIL / ITSM process knowledge
-Experience supporting post‑migration stabilization and hyper‑care phases
