Insight Global is looking for MES Technician / Field Engineer to work on site in Austin, TX and support the strategy and introduction of products based on unique and highly differentiated capabilities of a preeminent foundry for semiconductor systems and defense electronics companies. Their mission is to advance the state-of-the-art in critical semiconductor domains such as advanced packaging, and in the process to help restore U.S. leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. They are developing cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing technology that will define future roadmaps of semiconductor devices including logic, memory, 3D packaged devices, including thermal management, etc.
The MES Technician / Field Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) in a high‑volume, high‑reliability semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role serves as a critical link between manufacturing operations, automation, IT, and engineering teams to ensure system availability, data integrity, and seamless production execution.
The ideal candidate is hands‑on, technically strong, and comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor, supporting production tools, operators, and engineers while responding to real‑time system issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide frontline (Tier 1–2) support for MES applications used in semiconductor manufacturing operations
Monitor MES system health, job execution, and data flows to ensure uninterrupted production
Troubleshoot and resolve MES-related issues impacting equipment integration, lot tracking, recipe execution, dispatching, and reporting
Support field deployments, upgrades, patches, and configuration changes to MES platforms
Act as on-site technical support for production issues, including off-shift or on-call support as required
Interface with manufacturing engineers, process engineers, equipment technicians, and IT teams to diagnose and resolve system issues
Support integration between MES and factory systems (e.g., equipment interfaces, SPC, ERP, automation systems)
Perform system validation, testing, and documentation for MES changes and releases
Assist with root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives related to manufacturing systems
Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Train operators and engineers on MES functionality and best practices as needed

Required Skills & Experience
2+ years of Technician or Field Engineering experience supporting MES or manufacturing systems in a production environment
Hands-on experience working in semiconductor, electronics, advanced manufacturing, or high‑tech facilities
Strong troubleshooting skills across software, systems, and manufacturing workflows
Familiarity with manufacturing floor operations and production tool interactions
Experience supporting mission-critical systems in a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
Ability to work on-site and directly support factory operations
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with semiconductor MES platforms (e.g., Camstar, Opcenter, FactoryWorks, or similar systems)
Basic knowledge of SQL, databases, or scripting for troubleshooting and data validation
Understanding of equipment integration standards (SECS/GEM, interfaces, or automation workflows)
Experience working with SPC, ERP, or factory automation systems
Prior field engineering, manufacturing IT, or automation support experience
Strong documentation and communication skills
