Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead our client’s engineering, quality, software test, and automation organizations supporting enterprise class computing, complex hardware systems, and advanced logistics operations. This is a senior leadership role responsible for defining the future state of engineering at our client — balancing process excellence, automation strategy, quality systems, and emerging technologies.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in process, industrial, or systems engineering, experience deploying automation at scale, and the ability to lead diverse engineering teams across hardware, software, AI, and quality disciplines. This role partners closely with the Vice President of Operations and serves as a key driver of operational efficiency, quality, and long term technical strategy.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
• Lead and oversee the entire engineering and quality organization (35-40 people) including:
o Process and industrial engineering, Software test and quality engineering, AI and advanced engineering teams, Auditors, managers, and floor level technical teams
• Define and execute the engineering strategy, aligned with corporate objectives, customer requirements, and future business growth
• Drive process improvement and automation initiatives across operations, logistics, and enterprise computing environments
• Provide technical leadership across enterprise scale, complex computing systems, including commercial servers and AI infrastructure
• Define and execute the full lifecycle of AI/ML projects from ideation to deployment and monitoring
• Partner with the VP of Operations to set strategic direction and manage shifting priorities related to quality, efficiency, and scalability
• Lead engineering teams in deploying automation solutions across industrial and operational environments
• Oversee supplier quality assurance programs and supplier performance
• Manage and prioritize project schedules with internal teams and external customers
• Develop and maintain robust engineering processes, SOPs, and best practices to ensure repeatable, scalable excellence
• Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization
• Forecast and manage capital budgets, engineering labor costs, and productivity improvement initiatives
• Lead, mentor, and manage engineering leaders, including managers and senior managers
• Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement

Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in relevant engineering roles
• 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles
• Background in process, industrial, systems, electrical, computer, or mechanical engineering
• Proven experience deploying automation in industrial or operational environments
• Strong understanding of hardware and electronics systems (electronics or automotive industry strongly preferred)
• Experience leading software engineers or software test organizations, with the ability to set technical direction
• Strong presentation, communication, and executive level storytelling skills
• Experience influencing and leading change across large, complex organizations
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in electronics manufacturing, hardware services, automotive, or adjacent industries
• Six Sigma process improvement experience
• Experience in reverse logistics or refurbishment environments
• History of deploying automation across multiple technologies or facilities
