Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Quest Migration Engineer to support a high‑priority Active Directory migration initiative. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and executing AD migrations, not just running pre-built tasks. This is a hands-on engineering role in a fast‑paced environment. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of how migrations work end‑to‑end and has been involved in both the planning and execution phases of complex migrations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement AD domain migration strategy and execution plans (not tool operation only).
• Lead or heavily contribute to migration architecture, planning, dependency mapping, and cutover execution across domains, users, groups, workstations, servers, and applications.
• Configure and implement migrations using Quest Migrator Pro for Active Directory (MPAD)—including hands‑on configuration, setup, and implementation, not just running jobs.
• Execute migrations across on‑prem Active Directory, Entra ID Hybrid Join endpoint scenarios, and Intune‑managed devices, ensuring identity and device impacts are addressed throughout the migration.
• Manage and validate the interaction between computer objects, synchronization, hybrid join state, and endpoint management across all migration phases.
• Develop and maintain advanced PowerShell automation using modular, reusable functions with robust error handling and logging, delivering automation beyond basic sequential command execution
• Assess and mitigate migration risks related to Windows profile and security mechanics, including understanding the implications of preserving local profiles (or not) during endpoint/domain transitions.
• Partner cross‑functionally (infrastructure, security, endpoint, application teams) to coordinate migration readiness, troubleshoot issues, and ensure minimal downtime.
We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. • Solid Active Directory engineering background (multi‑domain or multi‑forest environments).
• Experience supporting migrations in hybrid identity environments (on‑prem AD with Entra ID).
• Advanced PowerShell skills for automation, error handling, and logging.
• Working knowledge of Windows profile and security mechanics and their impact during migrations.
• Ability to support migrations involving endpoints, not just directory objects.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience migrating in environments with Entra ID Hybrid Join and Intune‑managed endpoints
