Job Description

An employer is looking for a Staff Solutions Architect to sit remote. In this role, you are the integration authority. You will own the design and improvement of our integration landscape — including our relationship with the internal platform that manages menu, cart, ordering, payment, store, and checkout backend systems, as well as our internal Golang services and the contracts between our frontend clients and the backends they depend on. You will drive architectural decisions, establish integration standards, and work hands-on to untangle the flaky, brittle integrations that are causing real pain in our mobile and web experiences. This role requires someone who can operate at both altitude and ground level — credible in a whiteboarding session with a vendor and equally comfortable reviewing a PR or pairing with an engineer on an implementation. Tasks will include:
- Own the integration architecture across customer-facing digital systems, including vendor APIs, internal Go services, and frontend/backend contracts
- Lead the design and documentation of integration standards — patterns, error handling strategies, retry logic, circuit breakers, observability hooks
- Audit existing integrations and produce actionable remediation plans; partner with product teams to execute them
- Serve as the integration design authority for new capabilities — evaluating vendor proposals, defining API contracts, and guiding implementation
- Collaborate with the restaurant-side technology organization to drive shared integration standards across both engineering orgs
- Mentor product engineers and contribute to the broader standards adoption motion led by the Enabling Team
- Partner closely with Platform Engineering on infrastructure boundaries and observability tooling

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. Required Skills & Experience

10+ years experience in full stack development
Past 3-5 years in solution architect related roles
Deep experience designing and improving integrations in complex, multi-vendor environments
Strong understanding of API design principles — REST, GraphQL, contract design, versioning, error modeling
Hands-on experience with Golang or similar backend languages; ability to read, review, and contribute to Go services
Experience with AWS services and cloud-native integration patterns; experience with Kubernetes, Docker/Rancher, and IaC tooling (Terreform)
Experience with observability tooling — DataDog or equivalent — including distributed tracing, dashboards, and alerting
Experience with mobile application backends and the unique challenges of client/server contracts in unreliable network environments
Proven track record of driving technical standards adoption across engineering teams — not just writing docs, but getting them used
Strong communication skills; able to present technical decisions clearly to engineering peers, product stakeholders, and vendor partners

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with e-commerce and/or food tech ecosystems
Familiarity with React or React Native from an integration consumer perspective — including GraphQL client patterns (e.g. React Query / Tanstack)
Experience in a platform, DevX, or center-of-excellence team structure
