Job Description
Day to Day:
• Upload zero pay EFTs into the EHR and ensure posting are accurate.
• Troubleshoot denied and rejected claims and resubmit if necessary.
• Submit appeals and follow through to completion.
• Work accounts receivable ensuring that all claims are submitted prior to the timely filling deadline.
• Review old balances on accounts receivable and clean up as needed.
• Answer billing calls from patients regarding bills.
• Submit refunds for approval and enter into the system once they have been paid.
• Back up other billing personnel by processing EFTs and paper checks when they are absent for several days.
• Cross train with the insurance department so if coverage is needed within the department.
• Cross train with the referral department so if coverage is needed within the department.
• Perform any other duties as needed.

Required Skills & Experience
Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or an equivalent GED.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, 10, CPT and HCPCS coding.
• Strong understanding of insurance, and the verification process.
• Strong understanding of referrals
• Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, but also work effectively with others as a team to accomplish objectives and goals.
• Demonstrate self-motivation, initiative and time management skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual
• Certified Billing Coder
• Proficiency in MS Word and Microsoft Outlook.
