Job Description
An Insight Global Oil & Gas client has a role open for an AVEVA PI Engineer who will be responsible for the day-to-day support, monitoring, and maintenance of the PI ecosystem across industrial operations. This individual will spend the majority of their time owning ticket intake and resolution, troubleshooting data flow and interface issues, monitoring system and server health, maintaining PI Data Archive and AF structures, validating data integrity, and performing routine cleanup and optimization of tags, interfaces, and historical data. As bandwidth allows, the engineer will also support project-based work including standing up PI systems for new facilities, integrating new data sources, assisting with system upgrades, and supporting broader OT-to-IT data initiatives. This role is onsite 5 days a week in Houston.
Targeted Pay Rate: $60 - $80/hr

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience supporting AVEVA PI systems in an industrial or automation environment
Hands-on experience with PI System builds, including PI Data Archive and PI AF
Experience managing support tickets, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining server/system health
Strong knowledge of SCADA systems (Cygnet or Wonderware) including finding, building, and maintaining tags and integrating data into PI
Experience creating and maintaining PI interfaces (PI Integrator, PI OPC DA, PI Web APIs)
Strong SQL skills including querying, building stored procedures, and ensuring data integrity across systems
Experience validating data flow into PI from SQL databases and downstream systems
General understanding of industrial data protocols and integrations (OPC, MQTT)
Experience supporting new facilities by standing up PI systems and ensuring data archives are operational
Ability to perform cleanup activities and ongoing system maintenance
Oil & gas industry experience
Experience working with Snowflake, including clearing or managing data pipelines
Experience with PI Integrator for Business Analytics and AWS staging environments
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Basic understanding of SAP S/4HANA PM module
Familiarity with data governance frameworks such as Purdue Model and OT-to-IT data architecture standards
