Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Backend Application Developer to join the Digital Guest Experience (DGE) team of a leading client. This team builds and scales the guest‑facing platforms that power online ordering (pickup/delivery) and loyalty/CRM for a restaurant brand. You will develop and maintain cloud‑hosted APIs, batch jobs, serverless functions, and relational data stores that process guest activity at enterprise scale.
Day‑to‑Day
-Design, build, and maintain server‑side services and REST APIs in a LAMP‑oriented environment (primarily PHP with modern OOP; familiarity with Perl or Python acceptable when used for application development).
-Implement and optimize MySQL schemas, queries, and stored routines for high‑volume transactional and reporting workloads.
-Own the build/release workflow via Jenkins, Bitbucket Pipelines, or Azure DevOps; create reliable CI/CD pipelines, branching strategies, and automated deployments.
-Operate in Linux daily (shell, package management, process monitoring, permissions), and manage/secure Apache (vhosts, TLS, modules, rewrites).
-Instrument services with New Relic, AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, or Datadog—define SLIs/SLOs, set alerts/dashboards, and lead troubleshooting during incidents.
-Develop and schedule batch jobs/serverless functions to integrate loyalty/CRM and e‑commerce systems; ensure idempotency, retries, and auditability.
-Collaborate with product/CRM/loyalty teams to translate requirements into resilient back‑end features; participate in code reviews and peer design.
-Performance‑tune hot paths (caching strategies, connection pooling, query optimization) to handle peak order/loyalty traffic.
