Job Description

We are looking for a part time HR Generalist to join our team in Houston, TX. Our client hiring the HR Generalist is a service-oriented HR company specializing in supporting Firefighter, EMS, and Emergency Service Departments (ESDs). They provide comprehensive HR solutions, including recruiting, payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee life-cycle management.

Position Overview
The HR Generalist will play a key role in delivering full-spectrum HR services to our clients. This position requires a hands-on professional who can manage day-to-day HR operations, ensure compliance with employment regulations, and provide exceptional support to employees and leadership teams.
Responsibilities
• Employee Life-Cycle Management:
○ Address employee inquiries on payroll, benefits, FMLA, and worker’s compensation.
○ Conduct investigations, provide mediation, and support leadership coaching initiatives.
• Benefits Administration:
○ Guide employees through benefit options, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans (401k, TCDRS, LOSAP, 457b), and leave management.
• Compliance & Policy Management:
○ Ensure adherence to employment regulations, codes, and laws.
○ Assist in policy development and implementation for diverse departments (volunteer, paid, and combination).
• Recruiting & Hiring:
○ Utilize integrated HRIS and recruiting tools (Paycor platform) to manage job postings, candidate pipelines, and pre-employment processes.
○ Partner with clients to ensure smooth onboarding and a positive candidate experience.
• Payroll Support:
○ Manage payroll processes, including deductions, garnishments, wage verifications, and unemployment taxes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
