Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a team in North Houston, Texas in the oil field services industry. This person will own the technical execution of assigned projects, ensuring designs meet functional, performance, and quality standards. They will conduct in-depth analysis, modifications, and validation of product designs while ensuring compliance with engineering best practices. Additionally, they will serve as the primary technical authority, fully understanding design intent, risks, and requirements. Also, they will oversee and approve design calculations, specifications, and engineering documentation to ensure technical accuracy and will develop and execute test procedures, analyze results, and drive corrective actions to improve product performance. They will troubleshoot and resolve field and manufacturing challenges, ensuring product reliability and performance. Also they will integrate Reliability, HSE, and Quality considerations throughout the design and development process. Lastly, but not limited to, they will provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers, ensuring engineering rigor and knowledge transfer. They will be using SolidWorks, CWI, and Microsoft Office products. This role will be 100% in office 8am-5pm M-F.


Target Pay Rate Range: $50 - 65/hr

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline,

5+ years of deep technical expertise in mechanical design
Proficient with SolidWorks and Microsoft Office

Knowledge of BOM's and drawings

Experience/knowledge of drilling or completion tools

Proven ability to assess and validate technical documentation against design requirements and engineering standards.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with a focus on risk assessment and mitigation.

Ability to independently manage tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines while maintaining technical excellence.

Clear and effective communication skills, ensuring transparency in technical discussions and alignment across teams.

Adaptability to changing project needs while maintaining a structured engineering approach.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Oil and gas industry experience

Experience in mechanical design specifically with high pressure and high temperature
