Job Description
An upstream O&G company in downtown Houston is seeking a highly skilled Reservoir Simulation Developer to take ownership of their internal reservoir simulator. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing and optimizing reservoir simulators, strong proficiency in C++, and deep numerical and mathematical knowledge for modeling. This role involves enhancing, upgrading, and potentially rebuilding the simulator, as well as providing clear documentation and guidelines. The successful candidate will be the first hire in this role and will lead the development of a new team. The hourly pay rate for this position ranges based on experience from $90-100/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ownership and Maintenance: Take full responsibility for the current reservoir simulator, ensuring its optimal performance and reliability.
• Code Review and Documentation: Conduct thorough reviews of the existing codebase, improve documentation, and establish clear guidelines and expectations based on reservoir engineers' requirements.
• Enhancement and Upgrades: Enhance and upgrade the simulator to meet evolving industry standards and user needs.
• Rebuilding: If necessary, deconstruct and rebuild the simulator with new code to improve functionality and performance.
• Team Leadership: Lead the recruitment and development of a new team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior developers.

Required Skills & Experience
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency coding in C++ and extensive knowledge in numerical methods, optimization techniques, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and computational efficiency.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex systems.
• Communication: Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with reservoir engineers and other stakeholders.
Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in team building and management.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience: Proven experience in developing reservoir simulators.
• Advanced Degree: A degree in Computer Science, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in reservoir simulation and modeling.
