Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join a team of 35 at a top oil and gas EPC company in the Houston, TX area. The person in this role is acting as the technical SME for the engineering group as a whole. They will work closely with other disciplines (mechanical/civil/instrumentation engineering, ect.) to complete day to day tasks and mainly be working on midstream compressor stations, pumping stations, storage tank farms, pipelines and gas and liquid metering facilities. Prepare electrical specifications, drawings, and technical documentation for electrical equipment and electrical installations. They will be developing specifications for electrical equipment, including pump and compressor motors, Motor Control Center (MCC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), medium and low voltage transformers, electrical panels, electrical breakers, electric valve actuators, electrical grounding, etc. They will be utilizing SKM and ETAP software to perform short circuit analysis and arc flash studies, developing and maintaining the Electrical Load List and Conduit and Cable Schedule. Additionally, they will develop Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages and provide technical bid evaluations for all electrical equipment during the procurement process, reviewing and approving vendor-supplied equipment, attending Factory inspection (FAT) assignments and field walk downs as required.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field

7-15 years of experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry

SKM and ETAP

Knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NEMA, NFPA, IEC, API, ASTM, etc.)

Familiarity with Bluebeam

Familiarity with Navisworks software to review 3D models and AVEVA

PE

Experience with 480 voltage and lower

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Midstream experience

EPC background
