Job Description

A healthcare employer in Houston, TX is in search of a Patient Benefit Representative. The ideal candidate would educate patients on what services are covered by insurance, copays, deductible, and out of pocket costs by working with the Pre-Service Coordinators to gather patient information prior to appointments. This candidate would be able to compassionately communicate financial obligations to patients. This representative would work with patients to create payment schedules and provide resources for financial assistance for out of pocket costs. They would work with social workers, doctors, APPs, for patient care coverage. Responsible for reviewing patient account balance, refund requests and adjustments, and ensuring information is properly and accurately documented.

Required Skills & Experience

4 years of experience handling patients benefits and providing financial guidance

Strong knowledge and experience with insurance coverage and terminology

Experience verifying insurance and obtaining referrals

Experience with Availity

HS Diploma or GED

Strong customer service experience and skills

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
