A healthcare employer in Houston, TX is seeking an Outpatient ED Medical Coder to join their growing team. This position is remote but candidates must live in the following states: TX, OK, LA, TN, FL and GA. This person will be responsible for coding emergency department charts. Knowledge of coding compliance policies, official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures affecting the coding process is required. In this role you will be coding an average of 9 charts per hour.

Minimum of three (3) years of hospital and ambulatory coding experience on the facility side
Experience coding in a level 1 or 2 trauma facility/academic teaching facility
Experience coding emergency department visits - including infusions and injections
Either a RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, COC, or CPC Coding Certification(s) from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC)
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and/or CPT
Knowledge of coding compliance policies, official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures affecting the coding process
Proficient knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical terminology
High School Diploma or GED
Must reside in one of the following states: TX, OK, LA, TN, FL, GA
