Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Field Engineer to join our Building Automation Systems (BAS) team, supporting mission-critical data center operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with a strong background in HVAC, security systems, and BAS technologies. The Field Engineer will be responsible for project coordination, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ensuring the successful delivery of automation solutions in complex environments. Compensation ranges from $105,000-$115,000/yr depending on location and experience. Some additional key responsibilities include:

Interpret and work from construction plans, specifications, and technical drawings.
Lead resolution of project issues through RFIs, field surveys, and direct communication with customers and trades.
Coordinate with subcontractors, commissioning agents, and other trades during installation and commissioning phases.
Assist in reviewing contract documentation, coordinating drawings, and managing material procurement.
Perform field startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of BAS systems.
Install, replace, and re-commission BAS devices, control panels, and software.
Validate hardware installations and ensure compliance with design documents.
Maintain redline drawings and ensure alignment with latest construction revisions.
Use engineering tools such as Studio 360 and Prometheus for diagnostics and configuration.
Manage incoming technical requests and prioritize tasks to meet project timelines.
Support cybersecurity best practices in system configuration and remote connectivity.
Participate in field safety and quality audits; analyze and report findings.
Act as the primary point of contact for subcontractors during installation.
Set up ISP connections and remote access to customer systems.
Provide feedback to project managers on change orders and installation progress.
Ensure installation tracking sheets are updated and accurate.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 4 years of experience as a Systems Application or Field Engineer in BAS or related industries.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, security installations, and building automation technologies.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, submittals, and specifications.
Familiarity with BAS platforms (e.g., Schneider Electric, Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls).
Experience with networking hardware and cybersecurity configurations.
Ability to coordinate field activities and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Basic programming and troubleshooting skills for control systems.
Working knowledge of operator workstations, graphics, and software development tools.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or labs.
Certifications such as LEED AP, CEM, or BAS-specific credentials.
Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and other automation protocols.
Experience with DCIM tools and integration with BAS platforms.
Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and Uptime Institute Tier classifications.
