Job Description

A midstream oil & gas client in downtown Houston is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Engineering team. This person will be primarily responsible for equipment selection (meters, piping, valves), reviewing design/construction drawings, and equipment evaluations for SOW estimates. They will work with customers, suppliers, third party engineering firms, and internal Project Management teams. This role will focus on large intrastate pipeline expansion projects.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering
-5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design for pipelines
- Experience in measurement for a large operator
- Proficient with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and Process Flow Diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings
- Working knowledge of natural gas measurement standards (49 CFR Part 192, ASME B31.8, AGA, API, GPA, etc.)
- Working knowledge of natural gas transmission pipeline operation (filtration, heating, pressure vessels, odorization, measurement, regulation/control design)
- Experience developing control schemes, flow diagrams, P&IDs, and minor mechanical sketches

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Extensive understanding of gas transmission measurement and control equipment (operation, sizing, selection, function, maintenance)
- Experience with natural gas chromatography and natural gas quality equipment
- Understanding of device communications and protocols for industrial applications
- Experience with Fisher or Emmerson manufactured products
-Experience with meter stations
