Job Description

Examine architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards. Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements based on review findings and ensure selected solutions are implemented
Assess design documents for coordination between different engineering disciplines. Evaluate manufacturability and constructability of designs, identifying potential issues or conflicts that could impact construction processes
Evaluate designs for value engineering and cost optimization opportunities. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve design and construction issues. Provide guidance on means and methods to improve quality, cost, or schedule
Prepare detailed reports, data, KPIs on review findings, including any issues related to design, constructability. Maintain thorough records of all review activities and communications with stakeholders
Develop and implement quality assurance procedures to enhance the design review process. Document, maintain, and implement lessons learned across projects. Lead collaboration with other Tesla sites to gather and disseminate best practices
Facilitate periodic engineering and constructability root cause analysis (RCAs) & lessons learned training
Conduct periodic audits of design documents and review processes to ensure consistency and quality. Conduct routine field surveys to ensure execution to monitor progress and assess against design intent

Required Skills & Experience

Over 20 years of experience as a Construction Manager, Superintendent, Engineering Manager, Inspector, or Field Engineer
Has strong experience building/ installing MEP & Process systems. Has deep knowledge on how these systems are fabricated and installed in the field and the dependencies between the multi-discipline scopes ( (i.e. hydronic, specialty process and gas plants, HVAC and specialty air distribution systems)
Has experience providing engineering/ constructability input on designs and working with engineers to resolve constructability issues. The person should be able to give specific examples and the savings/ improvements of his/hers contributions.
Has experience working in fast pace environments in MFG, automotive, chemical plant, semiconductor, data center/ mission critical spaces.
Has strong knowledge on cost and schedule implications of design decisions. They may have experience in estimating at some point in their career too.
Has some general understanding of building and mechanical, electrical codes to identify any code issues.
Proven experience reviewing engineering plans for coordination and constructability that have led to risk avoidance and cost savings
Experience in construction administration support such as processing RFI's, evaluating specifications, reviewing submittals, and contracting experience
Detailed oriented, strong organization, communication, and analytical skills
Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work with engineering and construction team members to align on solutions
Experience using design tools such as Bluebeam and 3D model viewers (Revit, Navisworks, Revizto)
Is a great communicator that can collaborate and get buy-in from technical teams on solutions that may required re-engineering.
Can also be someone that overtime is strategic and can grow this into a 2-3 person team and collaborate with other Tesla sites.
