Job Description

An oil & gas client in the Austin, TX area is looking for a QA Engineer to test their encrypted POS system. This role will be hybrid - for the first six months, you are expected to be in-office 5 days/week. After the first six months, you will be required to be in-office on Mondays + a minimum of 2 other days/week.
In this role, you will be primarily manual testing, with very minimal automated testing required. You will be testing .Net Core embedded systems, utilizing hardware, simulators, networks, etc. in a physical lab environment.
Responsibilities May Include:
-Leading the project team to analyze project/product requirements and testing needs in order to create and execute a comprehensive test strategy including both functional and technical/system-level testing
-Leading software requirements, design, and code reviews to provide early and continuous quality feedback
-Identifying and developing manual test scripts for various types of testing: Acceptance, Usability, Functional and Regression
-Setup and maintenance of test environments
-Executing/analyzing test cases and communicating results
-Helping to troubleshoot and verify bugs and errors reported
-Performing end-to-end Payment Host or EMV certifications of payment systems
-Executing EMV test cases
-Analyzing certification test results at technical detailed level (EMV tags, bits, Pinpad modes, Contact/Contactless configurations, tables) to pinpoint the source of compliance issues
-Utilizing Brand Test Tools like UL Collis, ICC; Pinpads like Verifone, Ingenico, Equinox; POS/PMS systems, TransactionLink, Gateways, and technical skills to perform certification and QA
-Achieving production-ready test and certification approval of payment applications
-Performing end-to-end system, functional, and regression tests of payment systems prior to production use
-Updating test scripts based on bugs and changes/upgrades to the application
-Proactively seek ways to incorporate new/creative ideas and methodologies into testing efforts by keeping abreast of current methodologies, technologies and tools

Required Skills & Experience

-5+ years of Software Testing experience
-Experience with payments (understanding transaction flow, how processing works, failure points, etc.)
-Experience testing hardware
-Experience debugging and setting up networks

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Automated testing experience
-QTest or similar UI Testing tool experience
-Degrees

The rate for this role varies based off of experience $30-50/hour.
