A healthcare employer in Houston, TX is seeking an Outpatient Surgery Medical Coder to join their growing team. This position is remote but candidates must live in the following states: TX, OK, LA, TN, FL, South Carolina, GA and NE. This person will be responsible for coding outpatient surgeries and surgery observation. Knowledge of coding compliance policies, official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures affecting the coding process is required. In this role you will be coding an average of 6 charts per hour.

Minimum of three (3) years of hospital and ambulatory coding experience
Experience coding in a level 1 OR level 2 trauma facility/academic teaching facility
Experience coding surgeries and post surgery observation including spinal fusions
Either a RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, COC, or CPC Coding Certification(s) from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC)
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and/or CPT
Knowledge of coding compliance policies, official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures affecting the coding process
Proficient knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical terminology
High School Diploma or GED
Must reside in one of the following states: TX, OK, LA, TN, FL, SC, KY, GA and NE
Associates or bachelor's degree in health information management (HIM) or any Revenue Cycle related field
