Job Description

A premier employer is seeking a System Administrator 1 in the Woodlands, Tx to join the team and support the companies userbase and IT infrastructure. This person must be adept in troubleshooting, user support, Azure cloud computing, disaster recovery, system maintenance and contributing to the efficiency and success of their organization. This person must provide elite end user support resolving issues promptly and efficiently, they will lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, ensuring all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with minimal disruptions. They will be managing ISPs at multiple locations (research area for local ISPs, procure new internet circuits, coordinate installations, and troubleshoot and report outages). In addition, they will collaborate with the Homebuilding division on upcoming site openings to deploy network and workstation equipment for Sales and Construction staff members and troubleshoot cabling and terminations of cat6 network components. They will troubleshoot a variety of technical issues by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues, and interpret, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical problems of the computer and telephone systems, including network, email, applications, computer hardware, and hosted VoIP phones for both onsite and remote employees. This person will manage Active Directory, Entra ID, Office 365 Admin Center, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Teams, and be responsible for onboarding new users including account creation, assigning licenses, preparing workstations, and initial IT training. In regard to system maintenance, they will monitor, maintain, and support hardware and software systems, including servers, virtual desktops, network equipment, and other IT infrastructure. They will evaluate new tools and technologies that align with the teams vision and needs, perform regular data backups and restore operations to ensure data integrity and availability, implement automation to eliminate commonly repeated tasks, implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access, viruses, and other threats, and assist in the planning and implementation of system upgrades, patches, and new software deployments. They must create and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides and promptly create support requests upon receiving them, ensuring accurate and detailed data entry into the incident request details and resolutions. They will work closely with other IT team members to support IT operations and projects, manage outsourced IT for ancillary services, and lead special projects as assigned and meet deadlines for project milestones.

Required Skills & Experience

3-5 years of helpdesk, desktop support, and system administration experience

Proficiency in Azure cloud computing and Azure Virtual Desktop

Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux operating systems

Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking hardware, protocols, and LAN configuration, and familiarity with LAN and WAN technologies and security architectures.

Endpoint management

Experience troubleshooting cabling and terminations of cat6 network components

Experience with helpdesk/desktop support best practices, including security, SSO, MFA, data storage, and data protection

Understanding of best security practices

Mobile device management

Comfortable with 10%-15% travel to sites around Houston, Tx

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field; or equivalent work experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with SharePoint, VMware ESXi, InTune, scripting, automation tools, and patch management

Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure and thin clients

CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or similar certifications are advantageous

Sharepoint experience
