Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Remote Federal Grant Writer for a full-service grant management and consulting firm. This client primarily specializes in helping cities research, write, and win competitive grants from state and federal agencies. They work closely with local government staff to serve City Managers and Department Heads and effectively serve all city departments (including Transportation, Transit, Public Works, Public Health, Water, Fire, Police, Housing). This role will fluctuate between 25-40 hours per week and provides maximum flexibility to custom-design your own schedule.



The main responsibilities will include:



- Technical Writing -- Write persuasive narrative with interwoven technical facts (3-50 pages of narrative)

- Write with Data -- Translate complex information in a clear, interesting, and engaging way

- Develop Supporting Materials -- Create budgets, budget narratives, project timelines, Gantt charts, project schedules, project scopes of work, letters of support, project site maps and project photo pages, and required forms as-needed

- Multitask -- Manage execution of multiple grant applications for multiple clients within the same time period.

- Utilize Online Tools -- such as Google Earth, US Census Bureau website, California Community Fact Finder, CalEnviroScreen, and other online research tools

- Interview subject matter experts and distil most important insights

- Develop a professional relationship with client staff members

- Work Efficiently -- Deliver assignments within quoted project hours.

Required Skills & Experience

1-5+ years of experience in Federal Grant Writing

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Adept at online research, Information gathering, and data analysis

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Grant Management experience

Federal Grant writing within the State of California

Project Management Experience

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, or Communications (or applicable field)
