Job Description

A large utilities client in Downtown Houston is hiring a Data Scientist (Level 1) that will be responsible for building data products and solutions that support major corporate initiatives throughout the company's gas and electric business. The Data Scientist will focus in three main areas: route optimization, forecasting future work demand, and leveraging supervised or unsupervised machine learning to solve other key business needs. This individual must be able to produce clear documentation, writing code that implements software engineering best practices, and work with stakeholders to prioritize and engineer new features for data products. Other responsibilities include: communicating progress or challenges to product owners, collaborate and maintain codebases using standard version control and GIT principles, and use basic MLOps principles to deploy and monitor model performance in production. This is a hybrid role and must work 3 days in the office.

Required Skills & Experience

0-1 year of experience as a data scientist



Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative field



Experience with SQL and relational or schema-less (NoSQL) databases



Experience with programming languages: Python, JavaScript, R, MATLAB



Strong version control experience utilizing GIT, especially working within a collaborative team

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with route optimization, forecasting future work demand, and leveraging supervised or unsupervised machine learning to solve other key business needs
