A client in Richmond, TX is looking for an Assistant Controller to join the Accounting Department. This individual will be managing all aspects of the division's historical reporting, anticipatory budgeting, and financial projections, under the direction of the Division Controller/CFO. This individual will act as the conscience of the division which involves trustee responsibilities, business process improvement and challenging the thinking/decisions of the entire management team.
* This individual will be having supervisory responsibilities including: supervising a small team to ensure tasks are completed on time; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
* Must report financial results in conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) together with financial and accounting policies. All reporting will be due at the times and in the format required by Corporate.
* Working with different departments such as the sales team to review appeals that have been submitted. Working with buyers and sales agents who are submitting contracts. Helping with land acquisition for modeling, reviewing the land budget or any large costs for projects and communities.
* Must be willing to answer phone calls within different departments and assist. Will need to be available on the weekends to answer phone calls from the sales agents.
* Making sure all data and reports are entered correctly.
* Will be assisting the division controller as requested in the preparation and reliability of all financial projections including quarterly planning/forecasting budget
* Is responsible for maintaining accurate budgets in the company's computerized accounting systems, ensuring that all budgets reflect out contractual or estimated contractual liabilities at all times.
* The responsibility for all banking activities, as delegated by the division controller, rest with the assistant controller and must be executed in accordance with company policies and procedures

* Bachelor's Degree (Accounting, Finance, Business)
* 5-7 years related accounting experience
* CPA
* Proficient in Excel (Pivot Tables)
* Reporting financial experience with GAAP
* Effective communicator
* Self-starter and self sufficient
* Must be able to meet deadlines
