Job Description

The staff sales tax accountant position is responsible for a variety of sales/use tax and personal property tax tasks. The work is both exciting and requires the person to use constructive thought to perform routine and non-routine tasks on a frequent basis. The job requires sales-tax-specific experience and judgment to plan ahead and accomplish goals.



To be considered for the role, any candidate must be willing to accomplish the following:



* Timely and accurate completion of all assigned tax compliance responsibilities, including preparing workpapers/calculations, manually completing returns/payments, and complete all documentation in order to comply with state and local government requirements.

* Perform multiple monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries.

* Work with other internal business partners and outside tax vendors in the implementation of strategic tax plans.

* Keep abreast of tax laws and changes as they relate to all aspects of the company.

* Assist with maintaining and updating tax department processes in accordance with Sarbanes- Oxley Sec. 404 documentation requirements.

* Assist V.P. of Tax (corporate tax leader) with various special tax projects.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:



* Bachelor's degree in Accounting

* At least three years of indirect tax experience with a large, multi-state company.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

CPA or CMI candidate a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.



* Working knowledge of RIA Checkpoint tax research tool.

* Must be comfortable with GL accounting. The ability to to prepare journal entries/support and to reconcile tax accounts.

* Demonstrate the willingness to learn and implement process improvements in work assignments and tasks.

* Must be well organized with strong work ethic and excellent analytical and communication skills.

* The ability to work well in a team atmosphere.

* The nature of many indirect tax responsibilities requires a deadline conscientious mindset, so this person should be able to manage fluctuations in workload according to the tax due date calendar.
