Job Description

A premier client in the Insurance space is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting to effectively support and lead high priority initiatives. This person's experience in financial analysis and preparation, GAAP and/or STAT accounting, project management, system implementations, participation in year-end closings, and the ability to effectively lead by example, will directly enhance organizational goals. This person will lead, develop and train their team members. They will collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the timely completion of annual audits, develop and implement process improvements, and internal control enhancements to streamline financial reporting, and strengthen the control environment. This person will prepare and analyze periodic financial statements and reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), and other applicable regulations. Additionally, they will assess the effectiveness of the financial reporting procedures and identify areas of improvement, ensure both accuracy and completeness of financial data, and manage ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

10+ years experience in accounting and financial reporting

4+ years in a promoted/leadership role

Insurance industry accounting experience that includes financial reporting

GAAP and/or STAT accounting experience

System experience in Workiva, Wings or SAP

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Ability to work hours outside of normal business operations during peak periods

CPA

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience/involvement in a system implementation

Merger and Acquisition (M&A) involvement

Project management experience

Public accounting/auditing experience
