Job Description

One of our largest telecom clients is seeking a SOC Analyst to join their team in Austin, TX. This individual will be responsible for monitoring, managing, and configuring security tools, as well as reviewing incidents to assess their urgency, and escalate incidents if necessary. The SOC analyst will engage in a turnover brief upon each new shift conversion and then triage any alarms signaled within the SIEM tool and analyze whether an investigation is worthy. If an alarm is deemed worthy, the team will preform an investigation and provide recommendation for remediation to the client. Tier II analysts will serve as an escalation point if necessary.

Required Skills & Experience

achelors degree within Cybersecurity, IT, or a related field

1-2+ years of experience within security or IT (helpdesk, network admin, system admin)

Knowledge and background utilizing general security applications including - SIEM, IDS, IPS, NIDS, HIDS

Knowledge of IOC (indicator of compromise) and ability to define and provide examples (IP address, Domain, Unusual Outbound Network Traffic, HTML response size, etc.)

Must have high attention to detail, strong work-ethic, and collaborative

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Firewall experience

CISSP certification (independent information security certification granted by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium)

CSAP certification (certification designed to certify that candidates have expert-level knowledge and skills in planning, developing and implementing a successful enterprise security awareness training program)

CompTIA Security+ (global certification that validates the baseline skills you need to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career.)

Secret Clearance - will need once promoted to higher tiers but only working with commercial accounts for this role
