Job Description

Insight Global is hiring a Software Development Manager for an oil and gas software company. We're seeking an experienced Engineer and Manager to modernize our Windows and iOS mobile data collection app to a cross-platform technology. You should be innovative, detail-oriented, focused on continuous improvement, and capable of building effective relationships across diverse locations and technical levels. This is a hands-on managerial role where you'll spend up to 70% of your time on technical tasks like design, development, and DevOps. You'll be responsible for the quality, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by our teams and third-party providers.

Required Skills & Experience

- Write code on the application stack

- Oversee a team of 6-10

- Leverage your knowledge of standards, policies, and best practices to work independently and collaboratively with your team and stakeholders

- Share knowledge and provide guidance to colleagues. Ensure your team delivers high-quality, maintainable software that adheres to our standards and policies.

- Support the resolution of technical challenges to minimize their impact on delivery.

- Identify and support improvements in technologies/practices that would benefit the business.

- Position Alignment:

- Design, Execute & Create (50%) - You'll be driving team commitments, developing software solutions, and ensuring code quality. You'll communicate with management, collaborate with cross-functional teams, address quality issues promptly, and advocate for team initiative and ownership.

- Leading, Planning & Design (20%) - You'll lead the development process, understanding the product roadmap and current architecture. You'll guide your team, partner with architects, support planning, promote coding standards, and ensure solutions meet user needs and expectations.

- Productivity Process & Efficiency (10%) - You'll raise concerns about resources and time, collaborate on documentation, describe technical solutions to management, participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, recommend practices for improvement, provide job performance input, implement improvements, and strive for engineering excellence.

- Support & Service (10%) - You'll serve your team by removing obstacles and providing solutions, enabling them to excel in software development. You'll also support customers by providing exceptional technical support, partnering with product teams to improve customer service, and offering Tier 3 customer support.

- Development (10%) - You'll work closely with the Director of Software Engineering to understand the team's needs and improve it. You'll help your team utilize your strengths, support the AI culture, stay updated with current technology, develop skills to meet the team's needs, and continuously improve your development skills.





Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent engineering field

- 8+ years of Software Engineering Experience

- 3+ years of people management (6-10 person team preferred)

- 3+ years of experience being responsible for technology direction, execution, and application support.

- 5+ years of experience as a solution architect or technical leader

- 2+ years of Agile/Scrum experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience utilizing SDLC tools- Git, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.

- Experience planning, architecting, and executing web and mobile application development.

- Experience with Geospatial software development using, Esri, Mapbox, Leaflet, or other Open-Source GIS technologies.

Expert in GNSS positioning and concepts of Geodesy.
