Insight Global is looking for a Design Engineer to sit in San Antonio, TX for a large precast concrete manufacturing client. The Design Engineer will perform engineering duties in designing structural concrete components and their connects and oversee construction for all projects.
Design structural concrete components and their connections applying engineering principles and analysis.
Manages the engineering phase of a construction project interfacing with sales, estimating, project management, and operations as well as the general contractor and architect/engineer.
The engineering and detailing work my be either performed by the individual along with other internal personnel or by an outside design firm.
Responsible for the design and/or coordination or portions of more complex projects under the supervision of a more experienced engineer as assigned.
Inspects field sites on projects to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications, as assigned. This will include writing inspection reports along with development and tracking of field repairs.
Engage with production and quality control to address and resolve conflicts, buildability, or other issues encountered during fabrication.
May lead 1-2 designers on a project-to-project basis.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil or Structural preferred)
Some experience in a design engineer role (firm understanding of building code requirements, structural engineering, etc.) -- Sliding scale depending on experience
PE or EIT certification
Familiar with CAD and 3D modeling software & able to read/interpret construction drawings
Soft skills such as self-motivated, organized, and excellent communication
