An oncology clinic in the Dallas area is seeking a Clinical Research RN to join their team. This person will be responsible for all patient interaction for clinical trials for multiple types of oncology diagnosis. They will be responsible for screening trial eligibility for patients, work closely with the physician investigator, inform consent with the patient, and manage the patient throughout the trial. It is expected that this person follows research protocol at all times. They will need to be able to evaluate for toxicities, keep records of medication, and adjust dosages as needed. This person will be responsible for 10-12 treatment patients at a time, managing them from all levels of the study, beginning to end. They will be working with all disease types within oncology.
D2D/environment
- Responsible for discussing with physicians - every research trial has a protocol , so they will give inclusion and exclusion criteria. Responsible for pre-screening patients for clinical trials then handle consenting process with patient and physician.
Work with financial counselors - they have to direct billing for clinical trials and note where things are billed
Submitting things for invoices
All patient scheduling for scans, labs, return to clinic
Insuring infusion room nurses are trained on admin of drug/protocols
Order tissue
Upload images to portals
Ensure all assessments done during visits
- Chart and document in the EMR so data coordinators can
enter data required for trial
Phases 2-4 and observational trials.
Could see 1-3 patients daily.
1+ years of experience working in an Oncology setting
1+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Research Coordinator
Excellent communication, organizational skills, and time management
Billing experience is very hard to wrap head around so that's important - ok if no experience, but need to want to learn
Familiarity with clinical research, having some exposure
