Job Description
A propulsion-focused aerospace and defense company based in the Dallas, TX area is seeking a Flight/Test Systems Engineer III, whose primary responsibilities center around the development of avionics and control systems for robust flight platforms. This includes specification definition, design, development, verification, validation, implementation, and continued support of small rocket vehicle systems. They will establish, document, and maintain streamlined mission-critical software and coordinate with responsible parties to define system, test, and data requirements, and establish criteria for verification. This will require them to work closely with technicians and responsible engineers and collaborate with responsible parties to resolve technical issues, meet requirements of product and ensure safe and effective conduct of ground and flight test missions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar technical foundation
- 5+ years' experience in data acquisition, control systems, and instrumentation
- 2+ years' experience with high power amateur or university-level rocketry
- Proficiency in MATLAB for the purpose of data post-processing and analysis
- Experience as a flight test engineer or control room engineer on a test program
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar technical foundation
- Understanding of National Instruments data acquisition systems and development environments
- Experience with sounding rocket or ground-launched missile systems
- Experience with launch vehicle or aircraft requirement verification
- Active or Previous
