Job Description

A healthcare employer in Houston, TX is seeking an Outpatient Ancillary/Recurring Medical Coder to join their growing team. This position is remote but candidates must live in the following states: TX, OK, LA, TN, FL, South Carolina, GA and NE. This person will be responsible for coding outpatient charts such as therapy, outpatient imaging, transfusions and infusions as well as wound care visits and more. Knowledge of coding compliance policies, official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures affecting the coding process is required.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of 2 years of hospital or ambulatory coding experience



Experience coding ancillary - recurring & single - PT/OT/Speech Therapy, Wound Care, Cardio Clinic, Transplant Clinic, etc



Either a RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CCS, COC, or CPC Coding Certification(s) from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC)



Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM



Knowledge of coding compliance policies, official coding guidelines, regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures affecting the coding process



Proficient knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and surgical terminology



High School Diploma or GED



Must reside in one of the following states: TX, OK, LA, TN, FL, South Carolina, GA and NE

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with coding in Epic



Associates or bachelor's degree in health information management (HIM) or any Revenue Cycle related field
