Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Software Engineer for Mechanical Design to join an enterprise Oil and Gas client. This person will join the Diagnostic team where they use physics, mechanical engineering practices to then understand the science to put code to it. Under general supervision, leveraging engineering and software development competencies, the Technical Software Developer will perform and/or support the analysis to define system scope and objectives needed to develop or modify existing engineering applications. This developer will also be instrumental in choosing and implementing technologies in designing, coding, testing, trouble-shooting and documenting engineering systems applications. This developer will be encouraged to support and participate in the development and/or improvement of algorithms to support new and existing engineering applications. They may also develop test strategies used in the automated regression testing of these systems. They will usually work on projects of moderate scope and complexity and will assist in the development of assignments and schedules. It may require instruction and guidance during certain phases of application systems analysis.

Required Skills & Experience

Engineering/Physics education background



Strong understanding of programming fundamentals such as object-oriented design, code prototyping and development



Strong programming experience in MatLab, Python and C#



2+ years of Experience in a R&D Software Engineering



Problem solving skills; being able to troubleshoot and identify where issues are to remediate (physical equipment side or programming side of things)



Familiarity and being able to reach other papers, industry publications /apps (research component/ R&D type of work)



Understanding of fluid mechanics principals

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Oil and gas industry experience



Experience / understanding of Flow Assurance fundamentals/activities



Understanding of other fluid mechanics details
