Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations, the Technical Director, Software Development is a leadership role with considerable autonomy and scope. This leader will guide several engineering teams in end-to-end ownership of design through maintenance of a world-class suite of solutions. The SCALE team serves the following customer types: residential customers, dealers, supply chain/order management teams, procurement, accounting, and employees. Providing a superior experience to all users using enterprise SaaS applications, micro-services, and custom-built applications on scalable infrastructure is central to the SCALE team's mission.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Foster an engineering culture of curiosity, empathy, quality, and innovation.
* Engage with key stakeholders in Sales, Dealer Support and Operations, Supply Chain and Logistics, and Accounting to understand existing processes, growth strategy, and areas of opportunity.
* Ensure the products we build are accurate and meet a high bar for performance
* Make high judgment decisions on how to accomplish and prioritize features, functions, and new capabilities in a fast-growing business.
* Concurrently lead several engineering teams through independent or dependent design of solutions to delight our customers
* Fully consider and design for user experience, scalability, and maintainability
* Establish and maintain a high bar for quality and operational excellence. Lead by example to create a culture of high attention to detail and learning from mistakes.
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
* 5+ years of experience as a tech lead and manager of managers of software development engineers. A passion for people management and mentorship. The ability to set an example that others will follow and lead from the front.
* This role requires actively developing leaders and technical talent, defining priorities for the team, advocating for budget, and leading development teams from concept through delivery and subsequent operation.
* The role requires delivery and operation of a complex set of products at a very high-quality bar in a fast-paced environment.
* The candidate should have experience successfully leading through multiple complete consumer product or service development cycles, possesses superior analytical abilities and product judgment.
* Direct experience leading technical teams in service of applications used for Purchasing, Order Entry/Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Accounting.

* Demonstrated experience in improving and maintaining operational excellence through robust, customer-focused measurement systems, identification and reduction of issue root causes, self-healing/automation, and user ticket reduction.
* The ideal candidate will be an independent and curious thinker who can make convincing, information-based arguments and will never stop learning about their customers' subject matter and areas of complexity.
* Deep knowledge of programming and build processes, including experience with deploying microservice-based platforms and standalone custom applications.
* Proven project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules.
* Demonstrated experience in building, delivering and operating products and services in a consumer-centric space. Excellent customer intuition.
* Strong verbal/written communication and inter-personal skills.
* Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field

* Successfully delivered products and services that scaled over time.
* The ideal candidate has demonstrated, deep knowledge and experience in multiple Oracle Fusion Cloud modules, including Procurement/Supply Planning/Supply Chain Execution, ERP, Procurement, Order Management, EPM, Product Management, and GOP
* Experience with real-time and event-based systems, concepts, and architectural considerations, including those that utilize AWS technologies.
* Thorough knowledge of current software design and development methodologies, processes, best industry practices, and techniques.
