Job Description
A large veterinary client of ours is in need of hiring a strong Azure Data Factory Developer. This client is currently in the process of migrating away from Informatica to Azure Data Factory. (the ADF environment will be fully stood up at the end of the October 2022). In this role, you will be responsible for creating data orchestration with Azure Data Factory Pipelines and Dataflows (this role requires someone to really understand the business requirements and implement the requirements using Azure Data Factory. You will be required to understand the underlying data and flow of data, build simple to complex data pipelines, preparing/analyzing data, and provide insight to the different LOBs this team supports so they know how to make better business decisions, maximize revenue opportunities, etc. You will support the Azure Data Factory environment, support defects in production, optimization, etc. This is a 'fix it' type of role where you will also be technically responsible for migrating/moving data from a data lake to a data warehouse. This team needs someone who has fresh ideas and will be encouraged to make recommendations to improve the environment and provide insight to stakeholders. In addition, this team specifically supports multiple teams in the organization and tons of data is coming from the following LOBs: General Practice, Pet Resorts, Specialty/ER, their Ecquine LOB (i.e. horses), etc.
Required Skills & Experience
***THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE; THIS PERSON MUST SIT ON-SITE IN PLANO, TX 2-3 DAYS/WEEK FOR THE FIRST 6-8 MONTHS***
*Must already reside in the Dallas/Irving/Plano, TX area
At least 5+ years of overall Data Engineering/development experience
Expert-level knowledge on Azure Data Factory (minimum 2-3 years with the technology specifically)
Advanced knowledge of Azure SQL DB & Synapse Analytics, Power BI, SSIS, SSRS, T-SQL, and Logic Apps
Proven ability to analyze and understand complex data
Knowledge of Azure data lake is required, and Azure Services such as: Analysis Service, SQL Databases, Azure DevOps, CI/CD is a must.
Knowledge of master data management, data warehousing and business intelligence architecture
Experience in data modeling and database design with excellent knowledge of SQL Server best practices
Should have clear understanding of DW lifecycle and contribute in preparing Design documents, Unit Test plans, Code review reports
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills (both oral/written) with the ability to communicate at various levels with clarity and precision
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Previous working experience working on a migration project from Informatica to ADF
Experience working in Agile environment (Scrum, Lean, Kanban)
Experience with any of these big data technologies: Hive, Impala, HDFS, YARN, Pig, Oozie
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field
