Job Description
An employer in the Greenway Plaza area of Houston, Texas is looking for an Information Security Engineer who will be responsible for designing and implementing robust security architectures for the company's cloud-based infrastructure. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain security measures that protect our cloud-based applications, data, and systems from cyber threats and vulnerabilities allowing for the secure deployment and operation of applications and services within the cloud environment. The Information Security Engineer will be instrumental in safeguarding our sensitive data and maintaining compliance with industry standards, which will contribute to maintaining the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of our cloud environments. This person must have been part of an AWS migration focused on all aspects of security involving migrating applications.

Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
* 5+ years of experience in cloud security and 7+ years in cyber security in general
* Extensive experience in cloud security architecture design and implementation across major cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).
* Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for automation.
* Experience with security tools for vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, and SIEM (Security Information and Event Management).
* Knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and their application to cloud environments.
* Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and integration of security into CI/CD pipelines.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Analytical and Problem-solving mindset with the ability to evaluate complex security challenges, design effective solutions, and address security issues effectively.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Relevant certifications such as Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), AWS Certified Security -- Specialty, or equivalent is a plus.
* Oil and Gas previous experience is a plus.
