Job Description

Day to day / job description
• Monitor and manage ocean shipments from origin port through final delivery
• Track vessel schedules, congestion, ETAs, and capacity constraints
• Proactively manage shipment exceptions and disruptions
• Act as liaison between carriers, NVOCCs, forwarders, ports, brokers, and internal stakeholders
• Analyze carrier performance and support service lane strategies
• Conduct root cause analysis on shipment issues and drive resolution
• Build reports/dashboards and provide insights on trends and risks
• Identify cost savings opportunities and dispute accessorial charges
• Ensure compliance with international trade and customs requirements
• Support process improvements, system enhancements, and carrier onboarding

Required Skills & Experience

Must haves / requirements
• Ocean freight experience (required)
• Experience managing international ocean shipments (FCL/LCL) end to end
• Strong understanding of vessel schedules, port operations, and inland logistics (drayage/intermodal)
• Experience with exception management (delays, rollovers, demurrage, detention, customs holds)
• Ability to coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, ports, and internal teams
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
• Experience with TMS or control tower platforms
• Experience with data analysis and reporting (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses
• Global control tower experience
• Knowledge of demurrage and detention management
• APICS or CSCMP certification
• Advanced Power BI or Tableau skills
