Job Description
The E3 Electrical Controls Engineer is assigned and leads electrical and controls workstreams within larger automation projects, taking responsibility for execution from concept through commissioning while maintaining regular communication with leadership on project status, risks, and technical direction. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include independently translating machine and process concepts into complete electrical designs, defining required I/O, selecting sensors, scanners, safety devices, and control hardware, and producing detailed schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent tools. The engineer develops, integrates, and debugs PLC programs using ControlLogix and OMRON CJ/NJ platforms, with a strong understanding of system integration across controls, robotics, and automation technologies. A working knowledge of industrial robotics, is required to support coordination and troubleshooting within integrated solutions. Shop floor involvement will vary by project phase, with hands‑on support during build, commissioning, startup, and complex troubleshooting activities. The role collaborates closely with cross‑functional partners and may independently manage long‑term project efforts, including tracking schedules, coordinating tasks, communicating progress, and ensuring successful project outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience
5-8 years of experience working as a controls engineer or related role
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Technology or Mechatronics, Associate’s degree in a related engineering field and combination of relevant experience can be considered (associates + at least 5 years)
2-4 years of experience programming PLCs & an understanding of the integration of systems
Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent
Working knowledge of Robots & how they perform
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Project management experience - ability to independently manage long-term projects and a history of successful project results
