Job Description

Assist in the design and layout of industrial HVAC systems, including air handling units, ductwork, exhaust systems, chilled water, hot water, and process ventilation systems
Support plumbing system design for industrial and commercial facilities, including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems
Perform engineering calculations such as heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, pressure drops, and pipe sizing
Develop and revise engineering drawings and models using AutoCAD and/or Revit
Prepare and update design documentation, including plans, details, schedules, and specifications
Coordinate designs with electrical, structural, and process engineering teams
Assist with code research and compliance, including ASHRAE, IPC, IMC, and local codes
Participate in design reviews, internal QA/QC processes, and client meetings as needed
Support senior engineers with submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction-phase questions
Perform site visits and field verifications under supervision when required

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
Approximately 2 years of experience in HVAC and/or plumbing design within a consulting engineering environment
Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, or commercial facilities (internships or co-ops count)
Working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing system fundamentals
Familiarity with AutoCAD; Revit experience is a strong plus
Basic understanding of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, IPC, IMC, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience supporting industrial HVAC systems (process ventilation, large air systems, central plants, etc.)
Revit MEP experience
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or intent to pursue PE licensure
Exposure to construction administration or field coordination
Experience working on multi-discipline engineering teams
