Job Description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a
preventative maintenance program for all plant equipment and facilities. This role
oversees maintenance and repair activities, manages the procurement and installation of
new equipment, and schedules the maintenance workforce to ensure daily objectives are
achieved. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager is
accountable for the efficient, reliable, and cost-effective performance of the maintenance
department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Team Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise maintenance technicians. Provide daily guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality
work and professional development.
• Operations Management: Oversee all maintenance activities, including
scheduling preventative maintenance, responding to equipment emergencies, and ensuring machinery remains in optimal working condition. Recommend
repair, refurbishment, or replacement of production equipment as needed.
• Budget Management: Manage maintenance and tooling budgets, control costs, and forecast future expenses to support departmental efficiency. Prepare capital
plans for facility projects and support equipment.
• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute maintenance strategies that reduce downtime, prevent equipment and tooling failures, extend asset life, and lower overall operating costs.
• Technical Oversight: Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to resolve issues. Oversee the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and
improvement of dies, tools, and fixtures.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Source, negotiate, and manage contracts
with external vendors and service providers to support maintenance and repair needs.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all maintenance activities meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance work, and compliance documentation.
• Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of equipment, parts, and supplies, and manage procurement to support continuous operations.
• Technical Expertise: Provide hands-on technical support for troubleshooting and repairing complex tooling, machines, and production systems.
• Process Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery across the facility, utilizing tools such as 5 Whys and
root cause analysis.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

• Technical degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience and 5–7 years of maintenance experience in steel or metals industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications.
• Demonstrated ability to drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are essential.
