Job Description

A University and large employer of healthcare professionals is seeking an Accounting and Budget Manager for the College of Dentistry. This leadership role will
manage all financial operations for the College of Dentistry, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, grants administration, and compliance, under the guidance of the Director of Finance and the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration. This position combines strategic financial planning with hands-on management across academic departments, dental clinics, and auxiliary services.
There are a few areas of focus this role will handle: Budget planning and Financial Oversight, Reporting and Financial Reporting, and continuous improvement.
This position leads comprehensive financial management for the College of Dentistry, overseeing budgeting, reporting, accounting, grants, and compliance. Responsibilities include developing annual and multi-year budgets for academic units, clinics, and auxiliary operations, while partnering with department chairs and the Sponsored Programs Office to forecast enrollment, patient volumes, and grant commitments. The role builds rolling financial projections that incorporate capital requests, tuition and clinic rate assumptions, and new revenue opportunities, and monitors budget execution through monthly variance analysis and corrective actions. It directs financial reporting and analysis, producing detailed statements and dashboards to inform decision-making, and supports audits by maintaining reconciliations and internal controls. Daily accounting operations, patient revenue allocation, payroll compliance, and travel reimbursements fall under its supervision, along with coordination of year-end close activities. This position blends strategic planning with hands-on financial oversight to ensure fiscal integrity across all college operations.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in Accounting and Financial Reporting
Experience with fund accounting, GAAP, and federal grant regulations.
Skill in financial modelling, variance analysis, and executive‐level presentation of complex data.
Ability to design and implement internal controls over cash handling, revenue cycle, and compliance processes.
Experience leading a team - leadership role and responsibilities
Skill in leveraging ERP and BI tools (Oracle Financials, Banner, Cognos, Power BI) to create interactive dashboards and reports.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Knowledge of dental clinic operations, patient billing workflows, and AxiUm software.
