A client in the Nashville, TN area is seeking a VP/Head of Insurance Investment Accounting to build out their Commercial Mortgage Loan function within the Insurance Investment Accounting team. This role is critical to supporting a major mandate to bring new assets under management and will play a key role in developing a new capability within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
-Lead and develop a team supporting a sizeable CML portfolio.
- Serve as the SME in commercial mortgage loan accounting to build, and lead, the design and implementation of system infrastructure, SOC controls, and monthly close processes for a new asset class.
-Oversee GAAP accounting, regulatory reporting, and full valuations of insurance client assets.
-Serve as system owner for CML data integration into Clearwater Analytics and the general ledger.
-Develop and implement SOC-1 controls, monthly close processes, and infrastructure for new asset classes.
-Provide accounting guidance to front office teams and support complex deal structures and workouts.
-Manage reporting for Investments Under Surveillance and Real Estate Owned assets.
-Collaborate with internal and external audit teams on SOX and statutory audits.
-Support new product development, RFPs, and regulatory change initiatives (e.g., NAIC updates).
- Initially focus on project-based work to prepare for the mandate, transitioning to day-to-day oversight of principal and interest recording, monthly reporting, and ongoing operations.

-510+ years of experience in investment or insurance accounting, with leadership experience.
-Deep knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting.
-Expertise in commercial mortgage loans.
-Strong systems and process development skills
-Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
