Job Description

The Research Database Manager (RDM) will be responsible for creating data collection approaches, management, development, and delivery of several research databases in the Department of client; Work collaboratively with clients multi programs, Clinical Research and Analytics cores. The RDM will act as a critical liaison between leadership and development teams, tracking, monitoring, and maintaining critical metrics. To be successful in this role, the individual will have to manage and build relationships with multiple stakeholders, take initiatives, and have a strong knowledge of project management.



Responsibilities



The Research Databases Manager will be responsible for:



· Oversee creating data collection approaches, management, development, and delivery of several research databases.



· Monitor and manage the coordination of activities within a team, implement policies and execute plans.



· Prioritize requests from multiple individuals/teams and be able to adapt rapidly to changing priorities for the leadership



· Proactively anticipate and understand concerns/issues/delays in the project and develop risk assessment and contingency plans.



· Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment between multiple teams.



· Ensure all projects and tasks are executed within predefined timelines and budgets in compliance with all applicable standards & regulations.



· Able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.



· Lead efforts to maintain data collection standards and design and develop standard operating procedures for database development.



· Mentor and guide team members and ensure they have the resources and access to training required to successfully complete their assigned tasks.



· Engage in hiring, performance management, and other people processes.



· Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

Required Skills & Experience

· Knowledge of and experience with the concepts underlying database development and management with specific knowledge of relational database design



· Knowledge of relational database management tools and query languages (e.g. MS-Access, Oracle) and associated tools



· Knowledge of object-oriented analysis and software design



· Knowledge of traditional, database, and object-oriented programming languages (e.g.Basic, PL/SQL, VBA, C++, Perl, etc.)



· Knowledge of client/server design principles



· Knowledge of network and/or distributed computing environments



· Knowledge of client and server hardware, software, and operating systems



· Knowledge of medical, scientific, and statistical terminology



· Skill and ability to analyze and solve problems



· Skill and ability to attend to details in logic, calculations, and/or data
