This position will focus on mortality documentation and auditing. You will use CDI auditing to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data entry, and perform 2nd pass coding to verify the codes assigned by the first coder. You will also review the documentation of the patient's condition, treatment, and outcome, including paperwork/progress notes, labs, Vizient risk factor screening, and other relevant information. You will place queries to physicians in Epic to clarify any discrepancies or missing information. Your primary focus will be on mortality work queue, where you will code and audit the records of deceased patients according to the hospital's policies and procedures. You will also provide feedback and education to the clinical staff on how to improve the quality of mortality documentation.
