Job Description
Insight Global's client is looking for a Remote Protection Engineer. The Protection Engineer will be responsible for the design and/or testing/installation of relays for power generation equipment. They will be designing protection schemes for equipment such as generators, transformers, motors, MCCs, feeders, etc. with a focus on SEL, Beckwith, and GE relays. This includes one-line diagrams, AC/DC Schematics, and wiring diagrams. The candidate will perform protective device coordination for 480V to 500kV relays, NERC PRC evaluations/reviews, and specify equipment such as test switches, auxiliary relays, CT/PTs, etc. They will also be responsible for providing commissioning support of these relays, which includes doing checkout procedures, testing/commissioning of the relays (function trip path testing, troubleshooting, etc.), and writing test/checkout procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
* 2+ years of experience with programming, installing/commissioning, and testing protective relay schemes for power generation equipment (transfer schemes, generators, motors, MCCs, switchgears, bus protection, etc.)
* Experience utilizing ETAP, SKM, Easypower, or similar for power system studies
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Hydro, gas, fossil, and/or power plant experience
* PE or EIT
