Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Structural Engineer with hands-on experience in steel structural design, steel connection design, and at least some base knowledge about steel detailing for fabrication documentation. Candidates must have solid knowledge of structural steel analysis and at least some base knowledge about connection design and welding and familiarity with workshop documentation. This Structural Engineer position is responsible for designing and evaluating the structural components of large-scale infrastructure and modular building projects from concept through construction. The role involves performing structural analysis using engineering software such as RISA 3D to ensure structures can safely withstand transportation, lifting, installation, and operational loads. Responsibilities include designing structural steel systems and connections, developing foundation designs, preparing schematic, detailed, and construction drawing packages, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local building codes. The engineer works closely with architectural, civil, and mechanical teams to coordinate designs, review calculations, and develop technical specifications for welding, coatings, testing, inspections, and material selection.
In addition to design responsibilities, the role supports project execution by reviewing submittals, validating fabrication processes, conducting quality control reviews, and providing technical guidance throughout construction. This includes working directly with fabrication teams and suppliers to verify workmanship, inspect welding and construction practices, assist with on-site repairs or modifications, and perform engineering evaluations when necessary. The position also requires collaboration with customers, contractors, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, resolve technical challenges, and develop innovative, cost-effective solutions while maintaining quality, reliability, and safety standards. Travel to manufacturing and fabrication facilities may be required to support design reviews, construction validation, and quality audits.

Software/Tools that will be used:
Structural analysis: RISA-3D, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000
Connection design: RISA Connection, IDEA StatiCa
Fabrication documentation / steel detailing: Tekla Structures, Advance Steel, SDS/2

Salary: 120k+ USD
