Job Description

Position Summary
We are seeking an Automation Engineer to support the relocation, installation, upgrade, and commissioning of a large manufacturing machine being transferred from France to the United States. This individual will oversee the automation and controls aspects of the project, ensuring the equipment is updated to meet U.S. standards and operates reliably in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead PLC, HMI, and controls integration during equipment installation and startup.
Modify and upgrade automation systems to meet U.S. safety and operational requirements.
Troubleshoot electrical controls, instrumentation, and automation issues during commissioning.
Work with engineering, maintenance, vendors, and operations teams to ensure successful equipment deployment.
Support machine validation, testing, and production startup activities.
Create and update controls documentation, wiring diagrams, and programming standards.

Required Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
5-10 years of experience with industrial automation, controls engineering, or manufacturing equipment.
Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs and HMIs (TIA Portal preferred).
Experience installing, modifying, and commissioning automated manufacturing equipment.
Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, electrical troubleshooting, and machine safety standards.
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, maintenance, vendors, and operations teams.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with equipment relocations, retrofits, or capital projects.
Robotics programming, integration, or troubleshooting experience.
Familiarity with servo systems, drives, industrial networks, and SCADA systems.
Experience supporting manufacturing startup and commissioning activities.
