Job Description

A prestigious university in South Carolina is hiring a Software Architect – Consultant to assist in a project upgrading a proprietary software, the Cadet Accountability System. This role leads the technical direction for a proprietary university system modernization. It evaluates architecture, scalability, security, and integration patterns, and ensures smooth interoperability with systems like Banner, Canvas, the campus portal, and health platforms. It reviews the existing codebase, defines modernization options, and produces recommendations with timelines and a clear roadmap. It partners with product, security, infrastructure, and departmental stakeholders (Commandant, Academic, Athletics) to align the solution with cadet and staff workflows. It assesses usability and training needs to drive adoption. It estimates TCO/ROI versus alternatives and presents findings and status updates in clear reports. It prioritizes work against organizational goals, plans milestones, and communicates risks, decisions, and deadlines.

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience with C#
3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL
3+ years of experience gathering and documenting project requirements

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Familiarity with front end web technologies such as React, JavaScript, or Material UI
Experience analyzing existing code and creating modernization plans
Familiarity with 3rd party data integrations using REST API’s and SQL extracts
