Job Description
As the automation specialist supporting a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility, you will drive asset reliability, reduce downtime, and ensure equipment compliance with IATF 16949 standards. You will lead proactive maintenance initiatives, facilitate root cause analysis (RCA), and support injection molding and automated assembly systems—including robotics, conveyors, and servo-driven equipment. You monitor and improve equipment performance metrics like MTBF, MTTR, and OEE. You lead root cause investigations, drive corrective actions, and champion predictive and preventive maintenance. You ensure CMMS accuracy, validate PM effectiveness, and support TPM efforts. You maintain compliance with IATF 16949 standards and serve as a subject matter expert during audits. You collaborate on automation upgrades, resolve control system issues, and lead projects to boost uptime and efficiency. You also train maintenance staff, support production troubleshooting, and help define critical spares strategies.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
3–5 years in equipment/reliability/maintenance engineering within automotive (Tier 1 or OEM).
Comfortable in high-volume production; hands-on on the floor with PPE and lockout/tagout compliance.
Able to flex hours to support 24/7 operations and critical launches.
Lead support in defining equipment standards for both new and existing equipment.
CMMS proficiency and solid Excel skills.
Controls stack familiarity (e.g., Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Studio 5000; FactoryTalk View).
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Certifications preferred: CMRP, CRE, Six Sigma Green Belt; exposure to ISO/IEC 17025 helpful.
Familiarity with IATF 16949 core tools (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, MSA).
RCA, FMEA, and data analysis (Pareto, trend/control charts).
Exposure to injection molding presses, automated assembly, robotics, conveyors, servo systems.
