Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Instrumentation/Fiber Optic Technician to join their team for one of their top customers in the energy industry. This role is focused around building sensors and measurement devices (probes) for gas turbine testing that involves working with fiber optics and requires meticulous attention to detail. The instrumentation technician will spend 70% of the time doing temperature, pressure and strain testing and 30% of the time working with fiber optics. Quality checks are a vital part of this role to ensure the probes and sensors are operating effectively. It is imperative that this person measures, documents and records the resistance and voltage measurements of temperature and strain gages throughout the process. This role requires a strong background in hands-on electrical work and experience installing different pieces together (brazing, soldering, tack welding, wedge wiring, and potting methods), along with installing thermocouple wires on gas turbine hardware. The technician must enjoy precise hands-on work, as this role requires high attention to detail and patience to ensure that the sensors are calibrated accurately which can be a tedious process. Prior experience with fiber optics is not needed but if someone has experience installing and polishing optical components and fiber optics that would be a plus. This role is Monday-Friday ~7:30-4:30am, and pay ranges between $28-38 per hour depending on experience.
